The Power Of Making A Real, Committed Decision | Think To Motivation Leadership Inspiration and Coaching
In speaking with a number of people about what creates real and lasting change in someone's life I've come to the conclusion that many are not aware of what actually constitutes a real DECISION. I know that I myself was not aware of this for the longest time.

The Power Of Making A Real, Committed Decision
By Marko Carapic

You see, a real decision is a commitment you make to the achievement of a particular goal without the possibility of failure in your mind. In other words, you intend to move forward with the task until it is done until you literally or metaphorically "die trying". You burn all bridges/ships and leave no path for retreat. This is what a real decision is all about.

If you say that you would "like" to have, be, or do something, or that "it would be nice if... ", you have not made a real decision but are instead making a wish list. Ask yourself what you stand to lose or gain as a result of the "decision" you have made. If it is not much, then you have not made a real decision. The universe has a knack for getting behind those who go "all in", who leave only one possible outcome in their mind and that is success. The only other "option" is utter defeat and in their mind it is not really an option of course since it would be so devastating that they probably would not be able to recover from it. The stakes are so high that they HAVE TO succeed. In other words, they have gotten to a point where they want to succeed as bad as they want to breathe. This is the point at which you know that you will be successful because you don't leave any other option in your mind.

The reason most people fail at keeping commitments after making a "decision" is that they didn't really make a commitment or a decision in the first place making it really easy to back out if things go wrong immediately after they expend a bit of effort. This will always happen, of course, as no one has ever achieved anything of greatness or true value without first going through some major obstacles. If you have a "poke it with a stick and see if it moves" approach, which most people do, then what will happen is you will "give it a shot", expend a bit of effort, see that "it" doesn't move, and give up. That's how unsuccessful people approach the decision making process.

All successful people, on the other hand, realize that success doesn't happen overnight, that it doesn't happen in isolation ("no man is an island"), and that before major success comes their way they will likely have to overcome some MAJOR obstacles which will seem like failure to most. In fact, success has a funny way of cloaking or masking itself as temporary defeat. And if we are not able to see through this to see that this is all it really is, ie. temporary, we will not be able to see that true and lasting success lies just behind it. This is why having the capability of making a real DECISION to succeed and standing by it until one has accomplished that goal is so crucial in order for us to reach the objectives we have set for ourselves instead of giving up after temporary defeat.
